In Patch 7.3, Netherlight Crucible is an additional way for relics and artifact customization. To unlock Netherlight Crucible, players needs complete all of the quests in Krokuun and Mac'Aree. Legendary Items - Insignia of the Grand Army is a new Legendary item that was added to the game in 7.3 and it's affix will in some way interact with the Netherlight Crucible.
Netherlight Crucible Tiers
There are 3 new traits tiers to unlock. To get started, click on one of the relics to "Attune" it. This will open up a three-tier trait tree. Based on PTR testing, the traits within each tier are chosen via RNG, not via spec, relic slot, or relic effect.
To unlock Relic Upgrade Tiers, your Artifact must have a certain number of Artifact Traits unlocked, so this serves as a secondary bonus to putting more points into Concordance of the Legionfall.
Relic Slot for the left-most relic upgrades to Rank 2 at Artifact Level 61. Based on testing, the middle relic upgrades to Rank 2 at Artifact Level 64. Not all requirements to unlock Relic Tier Ranks, and the ranks related to each ability in each Tier Rank, are currently testable.
There is also a square socket on the UI but its purpose is currently unknown. Perhaps it could be used to reroll the chosen abilities?
Path / Tiers
Three tiers are available. The traits have a Holy (Light) // Shadow (Dark) pathing.
Tier 1 is the same for every class and upgrades your Artifact up to +15 ilvls.
Tier 2 (two traits) varies per spec.
Tier 3 (three traits) empowers existings Artifact traits.
A relic slot unlocks to Rank 2 at Artifact Level 61.

Tier 1 (All Relics)
Netherlight Fortification 0/3 - Increases the item level of your artifact by 5/10/15.
Tier 2 (Fire Relic)
- Light Speed 0/3 - Haste increased by 1,000. Movement speed increased by 1,000.
- Dark Sorrows 0/3 - Your spells and abilities have a chance to afflict the target with Sorrow, causing it to burst after 8 sec, dealing 1,000 Shadow damage.
Tier 3 (Fire Relic)
- Elemental Healing
- Spirit of the Maelstrom
- Crashing Hammer
Tier 2 (Iron Relic)
- Refractive Shell 0/3 - Your spells and abilities have a chance to grant you Refractive Shell for 10 sec, shielding you against up to 35,000 Magic damage.
- Chaotic Darkness 0/3 - Your spells and abilities have a chance to deal 1,000 to 5,000 Shadow damage and heal you for 1,000 to 5,000.
Tier 3 (Iron Relic)
- Wind Strikes
- Spirit of the Maelstrom
- Gathering of the Maelstrom
Tier 2 (Storm Relic)
- Light's Embrace 0/3 - When you take damage, you have a chance to generate Light's Embrace, stacking up to 5 times. Light's Embrace heals for 1,000 damage over 6 sec.
- Dark Sorrows 0/3 - Your spells and abilities have a chance to afflict the target with Sorrow, causing it to burst after 8 sec, dealing 1,000 Shadow damage.
