After a maintenance, the Artifact Retirement quest is now available on US servers. Completing the quest in Silithus will get a buff to maximizes your Artifact power and leave your Artifact at level 126 (for those who are under artifact level 126) or stay at current level if it is higher. “Just some clarification on this one but yes there should be a quest called "The Speaker's Call" that should begin the Artifact Weapon Overcharge. You will need to complete the prerequisite Magni quests in order to receive "The Speaker's Call". When you complete this it should overcharge your artifact up to Artifact Level 126 which puts you at 75 Concordance. All of the existing traits will function until the pre patch.

Take advantage of the overcharge and go take on things like the Mage Tower, Ahead of the Curve: Argus, and The Chosen that are removed when the prepatch goes live soon™. Also don't forget the usual Mythic mount drop chances that will be lowered from their guaranteed 100% when Battle for Azeroth goes live!

If I'm higher than Artifact Level 126 and I do the quest, will I actually lose power?

It should only affect Artifacts that are below that value. So if you're above Concordance 75 it should keep you at that Concordance value. However you might notice it jump up in a week or two

This just simply upon completion moves everyone to Concordance 75 and then next week another bump, and then another. You get the picture.

TL;DR: Smash everything.”

Artifact Retirement Questline

When you log in, you will receive the quest The Speaker’s Call if you don’t have any pending previous Magni quests. The quest requires you to go to Silithus. Arriving there, you will talk to your faction's flying ship, where a bunch of known figures through Legion will be waiting with their own artifacts: Iron-Body Ponshu, Kor'vas Bloodthorn, Rensar Greathoof, High Priestess Ishanah, Archmage Vargoth, and Highlord Darion Mograine.

Horde characters will see different NPCs: Eitrigg, Lady Liadrin, Ritssyn Flamescowl, Highlord Darion Mograine, Valeera Sanguinar and Halduron Brightwing.

After turning in, you will receive the quest The Power in Our Hands, which will begin a ritual (and a short cinematic): We will use our artifact weapons as a catalyst to drain the power out of Sargeras' sword and stabilize Azeroth's wound in Silithus. The ritual is successful, but it destabilized our weapons.

What Will Happen to our Artifacts

“During pre-patch, our Artifact Weapons can continue to be used as normal weapons, but all traits added to the weapon will "burn away", and be disabled. The main artifact ability will also no longer be usable. Any relics you've added to your weapon will continue to increase the weapon's item level, but will no longer offer any traits. Netherlight Crucible Augments will also cease to benefit the weapon. All artifact traits will be disabled as the final result of the Artifact Instability, which will happen when the patch 8.0 hit the live servers.”
